The Peachtree 50

On July 4, 1970, 110 runners began a tradition that would transform Atlanta and road racing across the country. As they ran down Peachtree St. on that hot summer day, little did they know they were beginning a race that would grow into the world's largest 10K.

50 years later, the AJC Peachtree Road Race has become one of the most iconic races in the world. Ahead of the historic 50th running of the race, Atlanta Track Club has embarked on this project to tell the stories that make the race so special: The people who run it as a tradition every year; The race's deep connection with the city; And the legacy it has left on Atlanta.

We look forward to having you join us each Thursday leading up to July 4, 2019 as we look back on the race before looking forward to the 50th. Follow us on our social media channels to make sure you don't miss a story or an update, and we look forward to seeing you on July 4, 2019.
